Lumin8

Lumin8 was founded by Kevin Godfrey and Quentin van den Bergh, respectively owner of Inventworx and Projects 24. Lum8’s focus is “Bridging technology solutions to malaria control”. Lumin8’s strength relies on the extensive resources that the two independent companies bring to Lumin8, including, innovation, product development, manufacturing, and most importantly, a very strong collaborative network of experts and companies.

Based in South Africa and operational throughout the whole African continent, e.g. South Africa (mainly Vhembe district in Limpopo), Mozambique, Kenya, etc. Relevant expertise Lumin8 has developed an innovative, simple solar power system to attract and catch malaria carrying mosquitos, with a strong focus on high field reliability, i.e. ‘Africa proof’. This technology is used for luring and catching mosquitos to assist with population control and extends to products such as rural streetlights, remote area USB charging points for locals, all of which assists in rural areas to improve communication, education, healthcare, safety, etc. In combining the Lappies system with the Lumni8 technology, the partnership between La Pieus Aqua and Lumni8 contributes specifically in monitoring and combating vector born disease such as Malaria.

Through the innovation and technology design experience of Inventworx and manufacturing.  experience of Projects 24 Lumin8 has further developed various electronic systems to assist other applications. All Lumin8 products are modular and the technology of the malaria system can be used for other applications such as smart farming, monitoring climate, etc. The strength of Lumin8 is not only the success of its technology platforms, but more importantly the collaborative network of skilled people from malaria research organisations and industrial partners, and the experience in field implementation, collaborative project management, education, local skills development, job creation, etc.
